This Artwork of the Week belongs to Kent Iwaniuk. You’re looking at a 12”x18” Classic Silver Metal Print.
Kent tells us, “The photo is of a 1966 Mustang A Code that I restored and painted for my father. The photo was taken in an older area of Calgary, Alberta called Ogden towards the end of the summer last year. It was captured by a coworker of mine that does amazing things with a camera.” You can find the Calgary-based photographer, Erick Nhan, on Instagram or visit his website to see more of his photos.
Photo Art Printed on Metal
We offer three different types of Metal Prints—HD Metal, Classic White, and Classic Silver—with each one having its own unique characteristics. Our HD Metal Print, for example, is a high-gloss print made using the dye-sublimation process to infuse the inks into the top coating of the metal sheet. Our Classic White Metal Print, on the other hand, has a satin-matte finish and your photo is printed directly onto a white-coated aluminum panel. If you’re interested in learning more about each of our Metal Print types, Everything You Need to Know About Metal Prints is a fantastic blog post/video worth checking out.
As this Photo Art of The Week features a Classic Silver Metal Print, let’s take a closer look at what it is.
Printing Directly onto Brushed Aluminum
Did you know that Posterjack was the first photo printing company to offer metal prints in Canada? Although we offer three great options now, we started with the Classic Silver Metal Prints back in 2011. This product is unique from the others because we print photos directly onto the brushed aluminum, so the raw metal is actually visible in areas of a photo where there’s white or low saturation. This type of custom photo art has a totally unique and artist look to it, and receives rave reviews from customers across Canada.
Another wonderful thing about Classic Silver Metal Prints are their longevity and durability. They’re rated to be fade-resistant for 200+ years and are a great option if you’re looking for a photo art product that can be displayed outdoors. As we mention in this blog post that looks at whether metal prints fade, “Posterjack’s Classic White and Classic Silver Metal Prints are printed using the giclée method. This process uses AGFA UV printers and AGFA UV inks. Originally designed with the added capability to print high-quality outdoor signage, our AGFA photo printers produce a metal print that delivers longterm outdoor durability and fade resistance. Under normal conditions with some sunlight, these metal prints will not fade for over 200 years. If you displayed them outdoors and exposed to constant direct sunlight, they’ve been tested to last two years without fading, which is still a very long time compared to other types of art!”
