One of the issues people often face when displaying art outdoors is fading but Posterjack Metal Prints have a fade-resistant rating of 100+ years and 200+ years when displayed under normal lighting conditions which includes some sun, but not constant, direct sunlight.
The reason Posterjack Metal Prints will last so long without fading is because of the quality of materials we use and the care we put into handcrafting your photo art. We offer three different types of metal prints, each with their own fade-resistant rating. HD Metal Prints are rated for 100 plus years of fade-resistance, while our Brushed Silver Metal Prints and our Matte White Metal Prints will not fade for over 200 years.
How It Works
Posterjack’s Matte White Metal Prints and Brushed Silver Metal Prints are printed using the giclée method. This process uses advanced SwissQprint equipment for superior image quality and GREENGUARD Gold Certified inks. Our photo printers produce a metal print that delivers longterm outdoor durability and fade resistance. Under normal conditions with some sunlight, these metal prints will not fade for over 200 years. If you displayed them outdoors and exposed to constant direct sunlight, they’ve been tested to last two years without fading, which is still a very long time compared to other types of art!
With a fade-resistance rating of 100+ years, our HD Metal Prints are created using a process called dye-sublimation. This means your photo is reverse-printed using unique transfer papers and dyes. It’s then placed over the Chromaluxe metal panel which has a special coating on it. Using a heat press at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, the sublimation dyes are converted to a gas and transferred to the metal at a molecular level. Since the dyes have been infused into the metal, your HD Metal Print will not fade, peel, or crack under normal conditions.

Photoboards are Perfect for Outdoor Wall Decor

Like our Matte White and Brushed Silver Metal Prints, our Photoboards are printed using the giclée method, using our swissQprint equipment and GREENGUARD Gold Certified inks, so they have a fade-resistance rating of 200+ years. Because we print your photo or artwork directly onto a rigid board with a matte finish, there is no glass in front of the photo, as you would have with a framed print, which means you won’t have glare or reflections from the outdoor lighting to take away from your beautiful decor!

Metal Minis

For outdoor decor on a smaller scale, our Metal Minis are perfect! They’re just a smaller version of our HD Metal Prints, so colours are vibrant and will continue to look amazing for years down the road. And when we say years, we’re talking an entire century! Our Metal Minis have a high-gloss finish, so you’ll want to keep that in mind when displaying them outdoors with a lot of natural light. What’s great about these little prints though, is they’re super easy to move around or position in a different angle, so it’s easier to display them in a way that can avoid glare.
Woodstand Prints

Another gorgeous way to refresh your outdoor decor is with our Woodstand Prints. These look amazing on tables and shelves, or—although it’s not technically an outdoor space—in small spaces like an RV. Your photo is printed on a 1/4”-thick rigid board and is fade-resistant for 200 years. The Douglas fir wood block is hand-cut and sanded in-house from our Toronto facility. The wood looks incredible as it is or you could stain or paint it to complement your other outdoor decor.
Aside from being super versatile and an easy way to add a personal touch to your outdoor space, another perk to including either our Woodstand Prints or our Metal Minis in your outdoor decor is that they are portable and small so when the bad weather comes, you can bring your prints indoors to enjoy them throughout the winter!
